Chalk Home Gallery-cum-Store Opens

chalk it up!

Australia’s pretty fine. You never pass up below-the-radar parties. And a peek beneath the belt never hurt anyone.

See? There’s always a good reason to go under.

Here’s another subterranean raison d’etre: Chalk Home, a new concept store tucked under the bustle of Newbury Street. Owner Nancy Hart, an illustrious painter who trained at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, approaches the space as a grand installation.

Gleaning inspiration from New York’s funky West Village and Chelsea retailers, Chalk Home houses a gallery (with ongoing art openings and trunk shows) and boutique, selling European and local designs for women, curious home goods, and an eclectic selection of letterpress publications and photography books. Garden ephemera and stencil work round out the spectacle.

Bottom’s up.
