the insider's guide to your city
DailyCandy is a handpicked selection of all that's fun, fashionable, food related, and culturally stimulating in the city you’re fixated on (and all over the Web).
Here’s a real stinker: With the economy in the dumps, donations to nonprofits are down and their loads are getting heavier.
Starting this weekend, join Baby Buggy’s diaper drive and help collect 84,000 diapers for NYC families living in poverty.
Kicking off the monthlong effort is Classic Kids Photography’s charity portrait event. Donate diapers and score beautiful pictures of your child at the same time (10 percent of sales goes directly to Baby Buggy).
Camera shy? Don’t worry, you can drop diapers off through June 2 at spots all over the city. If your stash of diapers has run dry, log onto Baby Buggy’s registry at Babies “R” Us (first name “baby”; last name “buggy”) and donate a pack.
Best part: Pampers will give one diaper for every two diapers collected — which should make for a lot of happy bottoms.
No ifs, ands, or butts about it.
Drop off diapers at Classic Kids Photography, 1182 Lexington Avenue (212-396-1160); Kidville Park Slope, 808 Union Street, at Seventh Avenue (718-569-2150); Kidville Upper East Side, 163 East 84th Street, between Third and Lexington Avenues (212-772-8435); Kidville Upper West Side, 466 Columbus Avenue, between 82nd and 83rd Streets (212-362-7792); Citibabes, 52 Mercer Street, between Broome and Grand Streets, 3rd floor (800-697-0107); Baby Buggy, 306 West 37th Street, between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, eighth floor (212-736-1777); online at babiesrus.com or babybuggy.org.
