Haus Rules

Haus Interior Design Services

Your recurring nightmare: trapped in a cramped space cluttered with indistinguishable objects. Doc, what does that mean?

Oh. That’s your apartment.

Work through your studio issues with Haus Interior, an expert Bauhaus-loving team (interior designers, landscape architect, art consultant) intent on bringing design to the masses.

They unleashed some insider tips for DC:

  • Treat a small apartment like a hotel room with dual-function pieces. You’re not entertaining the royal court, so ditch the dining table and throw a tablecloth over your desk.
  • Paint the entryway a different color so that it feels like a separate room. Don’t be afraid to get cozy with darker shades in small spaces.
  • Paper your closet in a wacky pattern (go gaga for plaid), so each wardrobe visit is like opening a jewel box. Cover chairs with old flannels.
  • Carpeting is making a comeback, expanding rooms to one large surface area.
  • Instead of a space-sucking headboard, wallpaper the area behind your bed (all the way up the wall and across the ceiling to mirror the bed’s length).
  • Hang pictures on the ceiling or from ribbons attached to crown moldings.
  • Use your clutter: Leave your Wellies out for that fall hunting lodge vibe.

Lie on a Haus Interior sofa (they’re launching their own line of furniture later this year) and dare, once again, to dream.
